Shannon Bailey appreciates a good challenge, particularly when it comes to helping clients solve their tax problems. Her areas of expertise include tax preparation services and planning, IRS representative services and complex business transactions – and she has the skills and savvy to handle the most complicated situations.
“I like finding the best answer for the clients and figuring out how to align their goals with what is allowed within the tax law,” said Shannon, a Roseburg native and daughter of a financial planner and a bookkeeper. “Finding the right answer isn’t always straightforward. Sometimes the answer lies in layers of tax code and case law. The challenge is persevering long enough to get to the desired result.”
Shannon earned her accounting and finance degrees from Corban University in Salem and her master’s degree in taxation from Golden Gate University. After returning to the Roseburg area to be close to family, she joined the Wicks Emmett LLP team in 2002. Shannon became a partner in 2013.
As the most computer-savvy partner at the firm, Shannon helped lead the firm’s conversion to a paperless process. She prefers doing business electronically, which caters to more tech-driven generation of clients who favor digital documents to paper.
Shannon also helped launch a wellness program in the Wicks Emmett office. “My passion is to make our community a more wellness-aware place to live and raise a family,” she said.
That passion extends beyond the office walls. Shannon is the race director for the Umpqua River Run, a 5K, 10K and half marathon race that benefits the Boys & Girls Club of the Umpqua Valley. “Last year we raised $17,000 to give to the club,” she said. “We also put on an excellent community event promoting health and wellness.”
She and her husband Daniel are raising their three children – ages 6 years, 3 years and 7 months – in Roseburg, taking full advantage of the area’s many active outdoor pursuits, especially running, hiking and camping.
