When Steve Oleson was offered the chance to move to Oregon from his native Nevada, he didn’t have to think about his decision too hard. Although Steve was raised in Reno, his parents are originally from Roseburg. “I knew it was a great place to raise the kids,” he says.

After graduating from the University of Nevada, Reno, Steve worked in local and regional firms in the Reno area for several years. He moved to Roseburg in 1996 and became a partner in 1999. Steve specializes in the accounting and auditing side of the practice, where he spends much of his time working on nonprofit, employee benefit, compliance and other business audits. He is licensed as a certified public accountant and a certified management accountant.

Steve serves on the Douglas CARES board of directors and is also a Rotary Club member. Steve loves the outdoors; he and his family hike and camp around Oregon frequently. In his free time, he’s usually busy with Boy Scout activities with his younger sons or with more artistic pursuits — theater and opera — with his wife, Cheryl.

Steve says he likes auditing because of its forward-looking nature and the opportunity to help clients with insights on how to operate their businesses. “With so many issues facing clients today,” he says, “it’s great when you can get in there and really make a difference.”
