Fun fact: Bob played baseball and basketball for Roseburg High School in the early ‘60s.
A 1964 graduate of Roseburg High School, Bob Hatfield spent 11 years away from his hometown before returning to Roseburg to raise a family.
“We moved here from Atlanta, and my wife was a little shocked,” he remembers. “The first fast-food restaurants kind of thrilled her. Me, I enjoyed the fact that I could finish work by five and pick up the kids and be on the ballfield or golf course by 5:30. No more hour-plus commute.”
Bob attended Brigham Young University for two years before serving a church mission in South America. After returning, he graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1970 and worked for a CPA firm in Atlanta. He came back to Roseburg in 1975 and entered into a partnership with Tom Wicks in 1978. He and his wife, Carolyn, raised their three children here.
Today, Bob specializes in providing tax and planning services to his valued clients. He is a longtime member of the Optimist Club, former scoutmaster and enjoys sports, golfing and spending time with his family, which includes a growing number of grandchildren.
What’s the secret to the firm’s success? “We built a good staff and offered lots of different types of tax and accounting services,” Bob says. “It’s a good place to work, and that’s key.”
