One of Laura Lusa’s great joys is providing cradle-to-grave tax and accounting services for her clients. Another one is needling her colleagues during football season. A graduate of the University of Florida, she’s a loyal Gator Football fan. “They’ve had some superb success in the last few years,” she says. “I follow their progress throughout the season and razz my Beaver and Duck co-workers whenever possible.”
After graduating with honors, Laura worked for nearly six years in the Boston and Portland offices of a national accounting firm. She then spent ten years in senior financial management roles for two multi-national manufacturing companies in the Portland area. After years in the big city, she quit her hour-long commute and moved to a home on the North Umpqua River. “Portland was a great place, but I finally figured out that I’m really a small-town person,” she says.
Primarily focused on services to businesses, Laura also takes care of individual tax needs, as well as estate and succession planning. Her clients come from a wide range of business sectors, including manufacturing, farming, hospitality and construction. “I have a strong connection with my clients and really enjoy helping them achieve their goals,” she says. Laura, who has been with the firm for more than a decade, is licensed as a certified public accountant.
Laura serves on the advisory committee for the C. Giles Hunt Charitable Trust, the finance committee for the Douglas County Industrial Development Board and the board of the North Umpqua Rotary Club. She is also treasurer for the Douglas County Library Foundation, and she volunteers with the Umpqua Symphony Association. Laura spends her free time doing “anything outdoors,” including fishing and hiking the North Umpqua Trail with her black Lab, Lira.
